Crystal chairman steps down as Vice Chairman of BPF Window Group Marketing Committee Martin Randall, Chairman of Crystal Direct & Founder of Fighting Back with Facts, has released the following statement explaining his decision to resign as Vice Chairman of BPF Window Group Marketing Committee. It's with regret that I announce my resignation as Vice Chairman of the BPF Window Group (BPFWG) Marketing Committee and I will be leaving the BPF. I was invited to join last year because there appeared to be a common synergy between what I was trying to achieve through Fighting Back With Facts and what the BPFWG were setting out to do with PVCAware.org. As an industry, we need to defend PVC against unfair attacks and misinformation put to the market and homeowners by timber lobbyists. I'm not anti-timber but I am anti the 'anti-PVC' lobby. My appointment to the BPFWG was to spearhead the recruitment of fabricators and installers to the cause. Since joining the BPFWG it has become more and more apparent that it is an organisation set up for system companies and not for fabricators and installers. This isn't a criticism, it's just the way it is. It's also clear that the BPF is not a fighting organisation and windows isn't a key focus. Like most large organisations, decision making is slow and time isn't on our side. I haven't lost my passion or belief in the cause to fight for PVC. It's in everyone's interest that we do, but we have to engage fabricators and installers, the bulk of the market. I leave the BPFWG on good terms and hope to continue working with them on a different basis. I have some ideas which I'm working on and will be disclosing them soon. |
